PHOTOS: Paint repair attempts continue at Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind in EPCOT

We now know that Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will open next summer. Although we cannot be sure how far the interior construction is progressing, the exterior construction has been almost complete for some time now. But the paint on the sides of the “Wonders of Xandar” pavilion still seems to be a problem. While the orange pillars look better than a few weeks ago, there is a new stain of paint at the top of the wall.

A few blocks of wainscoting were painted a lighter color than the rest, perhaps the start of an attempt to mend a capricious streak. One of the blocks seems to have been fixed.

This is probably a primer before adding a darker coat of paint.

There are still some messy spots on top of some orange pillars.

The pillar closest to the front of the building no longer has its large red wound – instead, most of the pillar is a different shade than the rest.

The pillar at the back of the building now has scratches.

We usually see marks on the ground before the concrete is replaced, so it’s not clear what happens to this pillar.

There are a few spots of white at the bottom of the pillars and along the bottom of the wall.

It looks like at least part of it is a primer for a good touch up paint job.

Meanwhile, the pillars on the other side still have black paint on what was apparently a failed paint test in July.

The black paint is visible on the lower half of the central pillar – behind a palm tree.

It remains to be seen exactly what the final building will look like. Above is the most recent concept art, although significant differences between it and the final product, like the host structure installed earlier this month, are already clear.
