The “melodic queen of India” Lata Mangeshkar departed for heavenly abode on February 6, 2022, leaving the nation with tears in her eyes. “She leaves a void in the nation that cannot be filled,” Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said. Sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik was also among the thousands and thousands who did their part to pay tribute to the “nightingale of India”. The acclaimed Odisha-based artist has created a stunning sand sculpture on Puri Beach in Odisha featuring the famous song “Meri Awaaz Hi Pehchaan Hai” sung by the legendary playback singer. Lata Mangeshkar was 92 years old.
