Literary magazine Nandik on Saturday celebrated the 83rd birth anniversary of famous essayist and poet Ekushey Padak, Professor Hayat Mamud, by holding a program at Pathak Samabesh Kendra in the capital’s Kataban on Saturday.
The event included discussions, a musical performance, the recitation of poems and others. Also, Nandik’s eighth issue was unveiled at the event.
Sammilita Sangskritik Jote President Ghulam Quddus opened the event. Famous theatrical activist Mamunur Rashid and translator Javed Hussen, among others, were present as commentators during the event.
Nandik Editor-in-Chief Ismat Shilpi delivered the welcome speech while writer-researcher Sarkar Abdul Mannan delivered a special lecture on Hayat Mamud at the event.
Hayat Mahmud started his career working at the Bangla Academy and later worked at the Russian publishing house Progoti as a translator.
He also taught Bangla language and literature at Jahangirnagar University from 1978 to 2004.
Mahmud has written several children’s books and was awarded the Bangla Academy Award for his contribution to children’s literature in 2013 and the second highest civil award Ekushey Padak for his contribution to Bengali language and literature in 2016. , he received Rabindra Puraskar in 2017 for his contribution. looking for Tagore.
